Wells Fargo Employees Donate $89 Million to Community Groups
Total includes $64.9 million pledged during annual workplace giving campaign
SAN FRANCISCO — November 4, 2013 – Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) team members donated a record total of $89 million to community nonprofits in 2013, including $64.9 million pledged during the company’s annual Community Support and United Way Campaign. One out of every three team members contributed to nonprofits of their choice, resulting in a 13% increase over 2012, and ten straight years of double-digit growth. In addition, team members recorded 315,000 volunteer hours during the campaign, up from 223,000 last year.
“Wells Fargo’s team members have always been deeply committed to supporting their communities,” said Chairman and CEO John Stumpf. “This year they demonstrated that deep commitment again through record contributions and volunteering. I’m inspired by how our team members live our company’s vision and values.”
“Each September during our annual campaign we highlight our team members’ engagement with their communities” said Jon Campbell, head of Wells Fargo’s Government and Community Relations team, which oversees the campaign. “But our team members also make a difference throughout the year. They donate and volunteer their time to nonprofits that provide invaluable services to families and individuals all over the country and around the world.”
During the Community Support and United Way campaign, Wells Fargo team members donate to nonprofits, schools or religious institutions of their choice. One hundred percent of their donations go to the organizations they choose, as Wells Fargo pays all processing costs. Throughout the year, the company also matches donations to qualifying schools, up to $5,000 per team member.
