Harden Furniture is 170 Years Young with Gorgeous Case Goods
October 13, 2014 – McConnellsville, NY – Harden Furniture will add new items to the popular Cabinetmakers Cherry collection with the introduction of occasional live-edge tables. There is also an interesting new dining and lounge “Camp Chair” that will pair beautifully with the live-edge dining tables and occasional tables.
The #1617 Cocktail Table features a clean line, angular, black metal base with a long and narrow profile allowing the shape and character of the live edge top to become the focal point. At 72” x 28”, it will fit comfortably in front of a typical sofa, but this “stretched out” shape will create a streamlined natural look. The live-edge tables are available with various edge options highlighting the natural beauty of the wood. The #1604 and #1664 “Camp Chairs” are scaled for lounging and dining respectively. These items are available in cherry, walnut or curly maple and have simple elegant lines reminiscent of an antique Adirondack Chair and equally as comfortable.
Last year the company launched the Mount Vernon Collection and this market they are pleased to introduce the bedroom category. The Ellipse Bed #895 features a curved shape indicative of the neoclassic style, also called the Federal style because it was newly fashionable during the nation’s first decades. The #865 Washington’s Piazza Bed has a fabric application behind the decorative wooden window frame headboard creating more depth and contrast for this design. The graceful shape of the #855 Serpentine Chest is inspired by a chest owned by George Washington currently displayed at Mount Vernon. Harden will execute this shape out of cherry solids, not bent plywood veneers, emphasizing quality and craftsmanship. The pendant pulls serve as the “jewelry” for the collection with a fluted shell motif adding gorgeous detail. The other bedroom case pieces are similarly designed and offer the same historical interpreted reference.
These pieces along with many more are on display at the company’s 200 Steele Street Showroom, Suite 133 at the High Point Market October 18-23.
Founded in 1844, Harden is the furniture industry’s largest privately held manufacturer of high-quality solid hardwood furniture and is in its fifth generation of continuous family ownership and management. This is an important year for Harden as they celebrate their 170th anniversary. Fine detailing, rich hand-rubbed finishes, durability, and craftsmanship are qualities that are important to the company and have been for 170 years.
