IHG Expands India Footprint with Opening of Holiday Inn Amritsar Ranjit Avenue

New Delhi, India, 11 November 2013: InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has marked its presence in Punjab with the opening of Holiday Inn Amritsar Ranjit Avenue. The hotel is the newest addition to IHG’s growing portfolio in India and is the seventh Holiday Inn hotel in the country.
The 145-room hotel is located in the centre of Amritsar’s premier commercial district, Ranjit Avenue, giving travellers the opportunity to experience everything Amritsar has to offer. The famous Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) is located a short distance away and Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport and railway station are within a 15 minute drive from the hotel.
The hotel offers a full range of facilities and amenities to guests, including an outdoor pool and fitness centre and, in its spacious and contemporary rooms, 32” plasma screens, high-speed internet, wi-fi and a multimedia hub for easy connectivity.
Guests at the hotel can choose from a variety of dining options, including: Ziva, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant; Bella Italian Trattoria, Amritsar’s first and only authentic Italian restaurant; and The Lounge, a stylish lounge bar serving a selection of gourmet tea, coffee and relaxing cocktails.
The hotel’s Grand Ballroom can hold 450 people and will cater to a range of events, from weddings to corporate events and conferences.

Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels make up IHG’s biggest proportion of upcoming hotels in the country with 25 Holiday Inn hotels and 16 Holiday Inn Express hotels due to open over the next three to five years.
Having started out as an inn in Memphis, Tennessee in the US, Holiday Inn has become a household name across the globe and a pioneer in the hotel industry. There are currently 1,200 Holiday Inn Hotels and Resorts around the world and 250 due to open over the next three to five years.
