The Associated Press seeks an AP Images Product Director for its New York, NY headquarters.
AP Images is the world’s largest collection of historical and contemporary photos. AP Images provides instant access to AP’s iconic photos and adds new content every minute of every day from every corner of the world, making it an essential source of photos, creative imagery and graphics for professional image buyers and commercial customers.
Reporting to the Vice President of Product, the Product Director will have responsibility for managing AP’s photo product portfolio and its partner relationships to increase business results and meet the company’s strategic goals.
Strategy development:
Collaborate across the organization to develop a product roadmap that anticipates market challenges and opportunities. Develop key market indicators to identify trends or shifts that may affect the portfolio.
Relationship management:
Develop and manage key customer and thought leader relationships, in partnership with sales, business development and editorial teams. Be highly responsive internally, as well as to our agency and contributing partner relationships. Work with outside vendors where necessary, including managing revenue shares.
Product management:
Lead performance evaluation against key indicators and improvement related to all assigned products, including managing any changes/shifts in content sets and requirements related to user experience on AP platforms and associated product delivery methods.
Product development:
Develop new products and/or re-imagine existing ones. Craft associated product plans and product requirements to respond to market conditions and opportunities, factoring in scalability and agile development practices to leverage production costs while driving toward an overall roadmap.
Budget management:
Lead monthly financial review and analysis of expenses and revenue, including any costs or revenue from vendors or partners. Recommend and shepherd adjustments in sales approach, promotion, work flow and/or resources.
Sales/Pricing support:
Review and analyze all sales data, trends and price data/rate cards for all photo products. Ensure rights clearance and licensing guidelines are managed on an ongoing basis.
Promotion:
Circulate and track effectiveness of all marketing materials for new campaigns. Work with marketing to best position products with target customers and prospects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate has a proven track record of improving business results through the launch of new products or optimization of existing product offerings that meet current and target customer requirements, ideally in media; is a problem solver with robust and increasingly responsible product management experience; and a strategic thinker who understands client needs, market trends and the competitive landscape. This position also requires a strong project manager who can easily work across departments and cultivate relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required.
