Earth911 to Sponsor Sustainable Planet TechZone at 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Earth911, host of the nation's largest and most reliable recycling directory and the official recycling partner of this year’s 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), will sponsor the Sustainable Planet TechZone.
The TechZone features 29 companies and more than 2,600 square feet of floor space, showcasing the latest green gadgets and tech – the largest exhibition of green products ever on the CES show floor.
Sustainable Planet serves as the premier location for world-changing technologies, whether benefiting the environment, utilizing new forms of sustainable energy, renewing our resources or contributing to the development of nations both on and off the grid. From alternative energy technologies and green business services to sustainable packaging and renewable products, the TechZone highlights innovative and forward-thinking product manufacturers looking to set new bars in the industry.
Electronics are the most widely searched items in the Earth911 Recycling Directory – a clear indication that consumers want to know how to properly dispose of their cell phones, televisions, computers and other electronics. In fact, e-cycling searches have increased almost 58 percent in the past year alone.
“Sustainability in electronics products is a hot topic for the industry as a whole,” says Corey Lambrecht, president of Earth911. “Our focus is on the end of a product's life, to help every consumer find local recycling solutions and complete that lifecycle responsibly.”
Because the average person owns 24 electronic products, which will all eventually need responsible end-of-life solutions, consumer participation in recycling is needed to reduce the environmental impact of electronic equipment and reclaim valuable materials for reuse. To help enable this, Earth911 and the Consumer Electronics Association worked together earlier this year to make Earth911 the official recycling partner of CEA and CES.
