Hotel Becket, a Joie de Vivre Hotel, Merges Two Hotels to Form New, Vibrant South Lake Tahoe Property
Boutique Hotel to Open Mid-December in Time for Ski Season
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Nov. 16, 2016 – Today, Joie de Vivre Hotels announced the reinvention of two hotels in South Lake Tahoe as they merge to form Hotel Becket, a 167-room boutique property. The name of the hotel is inspired by the becket knot, which is a nautical term for tying two ropes into one, but it also reflects the bringing together of people in the hotel’s newly joined spaces. Originally the Park Tahoe Inn and 968 Park Tahoe, the combined property offers an authentic sense of place and reflects the mountain lifestyle of the Lake Tahoe basin with modern, rustic details and artful touches.
“It takes a creative vision to merge two hotels into one,” said Gregg Harper, general manager. “We’re not only physically merging the properties but we are connecting our guests through unique services and programming. Plus, with one of the best locations in South Lake Tahoe, guests can walk to the slopes, the lake, the shops of Heavenly Village, casinos and more.”
Hotel Becket is conveniently located across the street from Heavenly Village for access to more than 4,800 acres of world-class skiing and snowboarding. The scenic shoreline and crystal clear water of Lake Tahoe is a short walk from the hotel, where guests have entry to a private beach. The casino nightlife of Nevada is two blocks away for gaming and live entertainment by national and international performers.
All guest rooms at Hotel Becket offer a warm sense of home. The newly renovated contemporary rooms feature handcrafted architectural details such as recycled barn wood doors, as well as custom artwork reminiscent of the mountain lakes found throughout the Sierra. Contemporary rooms also have a warm color palette with a pop of color – hot pink and mustard yellow – that was inspired by the vibrancy of South Lake Tahoe. Luxurious Tempur-Pedic beds are highlighted by custom-designed headboards and nightstands.
In contrast, the rustic accommodations are designed to eco-friendly standards, creating a unique juxtaposition to the contemporary rooms. Combining a modern rustic décor with sustainable materials, these accommodations feature handmade furnishings crafted from reclaimed Douglas Fir from an old Nevada mine, recycled glass and blue denim insulation, plus zero-VOC paints, organic linens and natural patinas.
Guest services and programs at Hotel Becket also reflect the nature and seasonality of the Sierra Mountain Range. For example, the boutique hotel offers ski valet service through a local company in the winter. The pet-friendly hotel also offers a friendly, four-legged companion for guests to enjoy during their stay. Remington, the hotel’s resident Bernese Mountain Dog, will greet guests upon arrival and also is available for walks in the snow or hikes in the summertime as part of the property’s “Borrow a Bernese” program.
After a day of adventures in the mountains, guests can refuel at Ten Crows Restaurant serving southern barbecue and craft beers in a fun, animated setting. An indoor-outdoor bar connects the restaurant to an expansive outdoor terrace complete with games and fire pits for a relaxed, social atmosphere. Special après ski offerings also are available throughout the winter, such as a hot chocolate bar featuring a selection of sweet and savory toppings as well as non-alcoholic and cordial options.
Hotel Becket also offers approximately 1,000 square feet of group and meeting space with multi-function breakout rooms. Executive and corporate groups will be able to participate in a unique set of breakout programs and activities specially designed for the hotel that draw from the surrounding environment to inspire creativity.
Winter rates at Hotel Becket begin at $119 for the 2016-2017 ski season. For information and reservations, please call (530) 544-6000 or visit HotelBecket.com
