TA Associates Announces Staff Promotions
BOSTON, January 6, 2011 – TA Associates, a leading growth private equity firm, today announced global promotions of six staff members, effective January 1, 2011.
“These professionals have played significant roles over the past year in helping TA source and close new deals, successfully exit prior investments and further build value in our existing portfolio companies,” said C. Christopher Parkin was promoted to Director from Principal. He serves in TA’s London office, focusing on investments in financial services and consumer businesses. Mr. Parkin led TA’s investment in Cath Kidston in 2010, and had previously led the firm’s investment in M and M Direct. He is a member of the Board of Directors of both Cath Kidston and M and M Direct, and was formerly a Director of Jupiter Fund Management plc, which held its IPO in 2010. Mr. Parkin received a BA, with Honors, in Mathematics from Oxford University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
James R. Hart was promoted to Principal from Senior Vice President. He serves in TA’s Menlo Park office, focusing on investments in the healthcare, business services, financial and consumer sectors. In 2010, Mr. Hart had a significant role in TA’s investment in Millennium Laboratories and Evanston Capital Management, and had previously played an active role in TA’s investment in 5.11. He is a member of the Board of Directors of 5.11 and Evanston Capital Management. Mr. Hart received a BA, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in Political Science and Asian Studies from Amherst College, and an MBA as an Arjay Miller Scholar from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Naveen Wadhera was promoted to Principal and heads Indian operations as Director of the Mumbai office of TA Associates Advisory Pvt. Ltd., focusing on investments in India and other emerging markets. Mr. Wadhera advised on TA’s investments in Dr Lal PathLabs and in Micromax Informatics. He serves on the Board of Directors of both companies. Previously, while with TA Associates in Boston and London, he played a significant role in the firm’s investments in Drive Assist, GlobeOp Financial Services, ION Trading and SmartStream Technologies. Mr. Wadhera received a BSc in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from the Wharton School of Finance.
Birker B. Bahnsen was promoted to Senior Vice President from Vice President. He serves in TA’s London office, focusing on investments in European healthcare and cross sector Scandinavian businesses. Mr. Bahnsen led the firm’s investment in Amann Girrbach and played an active role in TA’s investment in Cath Kidston. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Amann Girrbach, and was formerly a Director of eDreams. Mr. Bahnsen received a BA and MEng in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Cambridge, and an MSc in Behavioral and Cognitive Science from the University of Oxford.
Jason P. Werlin was promoted to Senior Vice President from Vice President. He serves in TA’s Menlo Park office, focusing on investments in technology and technology-based services companies. Mr. Werlin led TA’s investment in Aurora Networks and is a member of its Board of Directors. He formerly served as a Director at Logistics Health Incorporated. Mr. Werlin received a BA, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in International Studies and Spanish from Colby College, and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Tad S. Yanagi was promoted to Senior Vice President from Vice President. He serves in TA’s Boston office, with a focus on investments in the healthcare and service-related sectors. He was formerly a Director of Triumph HealthCare. Mr. Yanagi holds a BA, cum laude, in Economics from Yale University, and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
