THE ROLE
The Credit team is seeking a smart, passionate, and hard-working Underwriter to make lending decisions and improve our underwriting process. You will be joining a highly-motivated team and will be afforded substantial opportunity for growth from day one.
- Evaluating Loan Applications: Your main focus will be to analyze borrowers’ creditworthiness and make lending decisions. This entails analyzing financial statements, information provided in borrowers’ loan applications, credit bureau information, and other third party data.
- Improving Underwriting Process and Policy: You will work closely with our Borrower Sales Team to improve the internal underwriting process. You will also work to optimize the application and funding experience for borrowers, while identifying areas in need of further control.
- Credit Risk Model and Underwriting Policy Improvement: You will be active in providing feedback to the risk modeling teams and suggestions on how to strengthen our underwriting models and policies.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- At least 2 years of experience in small size commercial loan underwriting
- Experience interpreting financial information in the context of small business credit quality
- Experience interpreting financial information in the context of small business credit quality
- Strong communications skills
- Great analytical skills with commercial awareness
- Ability to evaluate current processes and take initiative to improve them; take an “outside of the box” thinking approach to solve problems
- Openness to learning and teaching others in a team environment; Ability to work independently
- Ability to plan and organize workload to ensure consistent achievement of goals and targets
- Enthusiasm for fast-paced, team-oriented startup
